Castañeda’s standing in Philippine art is undeniable as he painted and taught alongside Fernando Amorsolo and Guillermo Tolentino, fellow pillars from the UP School of Fine Arts where he also rose to become its 5th director from 1955 to 1961.
This publication relates his personal journey through the eyes of a granddaughter; as well as his contributions to Philippine art as painter, educator, and art historian as relayed by distinguished writers Patrick Flores and Robert Paulino. These are all presented together with a selection of his works sourced from the archives, from private and institutional collections between the 1920’s and late 1960’s.
